I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful Wednesday—or at least it’s beautiful here in southern Missouri! I’m getting ready to do my 5-minute mid-day trudge up and down our hill of a driveway because that’s my new health goal. (I’m trying to stop being so sleepy in the afternoons!)

With the latest round of Google shenanigans, I’ve been skimming conversations across multiple groups, sites, and newsletters.

Here is my favorite thought I’ve seen expressed so far, and it is SO my mindset right now in regards to content creation:

So here’s how I’m personally approaching content strategy at this time, and this is what I’m suggesting to clients to whom I provide coaching, consulting, and done-for-you services in relation to content creation.

1. I’m still evaluating keywords, but they’re not make-or-break. I’ll create the content if I want to, even if no supreme SEO data tells me it’s smart.
   ​
2. If I write something that doesn’t have a great keyword fit, I’m using ChatGPT with special prompts to help me pick a relevant keyword. I don’t care what data is found for this keyword in the SEO tools.
   ​
3. If what I write is completely irrelevant to my site topic, and I’m afraid Google may hold it against me for going off-topic (or what it considers to be off-topic), I will de-index the page. Take that, Google bots!

4. Wherever I feel this content will be best received is where I will promote it. Maybe I’ll only promote it in that one spot or maybe just heavier there than anywhere else.

It seriously feels like we’re going back to the old-school blog mindset when creators created out of their vast pool of creativity and shared it with the world. 🤯 What a concept!
